Thank you for the pictures, really captured the event.

I also appreciated seeing the different/varied color choices for Pagodas across the Pond vs US selections.

Of course I liked the one licensed  AP 28.463 which appears to be DB571.  (I'm partial) There are so many reds.  Is there a way to verify that car's color or maybe its owner that I can contact?

Also interesting that it appears wind screens also seem to be popular.

W11x chassis cars / Constant Speed Solenoid Pressure Switches
« Last post by FergFuerte_12 on October 12, 2025, 19:19:22 »
Hi everyone,

I recently got my hands on a Euro 1966 250SE coupe with a column-shift automatic. When I put the car in gear, the engine bogs down almost to the point of stalling. After a linkage adjustment, valve adjustment, and some other checks, I discovered that the constant speed solenoid (CSS) isn’t being engaged. I bench-tested it and confirmed it works, so I went to inspect the two hexagonal pressure switches on either side of the transmission (one for forward, one for reverse).

It turns out the transmission has been replaced with one from a 280SE, and these pressure switches are nowhere to be found.

I’ve included three photos:
- The data tag on my transmission (“GA 280 SE”)
- The side of the transmission where one of the pressure switches should be
- A reference photo from BaT of another 250SE with the switches installed

My question is: does the 280SE transmission regulate the engine differently, or are these pressure switches simply missing on my car? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Re: Haynes manual.

Reading your post, something started ringing a bell – I realized I’d seen the name Haynes somewhere before on a book. After a moment, it hit me: it was my first manual I ever bought, shortly after I got my first classic – a W111 250SE Coupe from 1967.
Thanks, James! I didn’t even know there was a museum built around the publishing house.

My brakebooster is on the opposite side of the inlet manifold so that will not an issue. So on my car it will just be removing the bolts for inlet/exaust manifold and thats it? Nothing else that can became an issue?
Its my first renovation in enginebay so I am kind of new to this.

Great idea — this sounds like a truly special event! The Gers region looks absolutely beautiful, and the route through southern France is definitely worth considering, even with the distance involved.

I’m not sure if everyone knows this, but Paul Bracq actually lives not far away, in Bordeaux — which gives the location an extra symbolic touch for all of us Pagoda enthusiasts 😊

Definitely a plan worth considering!

Thanks all for your positive feedback.

The event is for Pagodas only! The local classic cars association which is providing support has no members owning Pagodas, and the event will not be open to them. I'll be doing sites visits by the end of the month and I will provide more details on venues and programme. The dates (tbc) are likely Wed. 16 to Friday 18 June 2027, leaving on Saturday 19th in morning.

June 21st is "the "fête de la musique" all over in France and most cites, big or small, organise concerts and events. Usually, this is very busy so it is better to avoid the period.
