I passed paths with a white w113 pagoda today. We were traveling in opposite directions on a 2 lane stretch of Highway 1 between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay (California). Unfortunately I was not in my 280 Sl to catch his/her attention, I traveled that same stretch of road in my Pagoda earlier in the day. How sad.

I spotted a green 280 headed east bound on route 56 out of Carmel Valley (San Diego, California USA) on 8/16. The photo was taken exiting at Camino Del Sur.

Approximately 8:00 AM this morning. West of Chicago, IL USA, on 294 going South.
It was maybe Havana or Bronze Brown. It looked nice and it sure was fun seeing another one on the road (I was not in mine

)....

I have only ever seen 3 Pagodas on the road in South Africa.Today I ws sitting at the car wash,and a 250sl on a trailer pulled into the parking area.Recently restored,from a distance it looked splendid.On closer inspection,the restoration was quite poorly done,and on checking the id number,discovered it was in fact a 230sl,with a 250 badge.My stomach turned as I explained to the owner that he had been hoodwinked.I think its important to note,that if it wasnt for this website,I would never have known any better.Anyway,nice to see another Pagoda,even it it was a poser!
Looking forward to getting my sl back in the next week or so,shes been under the knife since October last year!

Today beheld a top-down Horizon blue 250SL in Nevada City, CA. I knew the owner but was still giddy to pull behind her in my Pagoda, stop and say hello... Had not seen her or her car for several years now. Here is an older pic showing her car, Dick M's, and mine last time I saw it.

I have seen quite a few in the past few years. Usually at Mercedes-Benz Club gatherings.
There are at least 5 pagodas here in my hometown of Durban (including my own) that I know of and they are 280SL's. One 280SL was imported from the US last year.

Unofficially there are about 50 pagodas in South Africa that I am aware of (thanks to a gentleman that has kept a register), but there may be more lurking around as not all owners belong to the Mercedes-Benz Club or know about this group.

Spotted a Silver Pagoda, with Black Soft Top up, at 15:45, 27th of august, on the Kortenhoefsedijk in Kortenhoef. I was driving the other way in my "civilian car" so had no chance in engaging in conversation.

Red 68 280sl on S bound 101 visinity of Agoura Hills/Westlake in Ventura/LA county border with license "68 SL"
with a black rubber antenna...thats a no no!

Saw a white one and a "barn find" brown one being loaded on a trailer today in Lakewood, Washington. The owner just sold them both. Missed out Doh! Also saw a red with black hardtop in Lakeland, Washington.

And a most likely to be stolen white 230sl at a large apartment complex in Kent, Washington. The guy's son was loaning it to him for transportation. Regular cars get stolen from apartments all the time. Convenient 1 stop shopping. I can't believe a nice car will last long.

sharp dark blue 230; we both headed north for several miles, but the driver wouldn't even glance over or acknowledge me.
Must have been driving his friend's Pagoda. Or he had just stolen it.

This is off topic, but as I was driving one day in West Palm Beach along a relatively quiet road, there was this pick-up truck beside the road, hood open with lots of smoke coming from under it. Two guys trying to put out the fire but not being very effective at it. As I was carrying an extinguisher in my car, I stopped to help them - but they insisted everything was ok and under control, and not to bother thank you very much. As I pulled away, the only thing I could figure was that they had .... just stolen it (and the electrical short they caused in the process was now burning up the vehicle).

Just spotted a nice (was it champagne?) Pagoda in Chislehurst in Kent (UK) He was stuck in traffic so took the opportunity to introduce myself and tell him to get on this forum. Hopefully one more to add to the community.

New cars sold are definitely right hand drive, although you can register classic left hand drives no problem
