There are 3 driven regularly in my area (Palm Beach), so we see them several times a week. I hope to add my wife's to the local fleet by November.

When I lived in Tequesta and, later, Palm Beach, I would see Pagodas around all the time; this is what finally moved me to buy one. California and Florida may well be the two areas in the world where there will always be a constant supply of Pagoda Sightings ...

Unlike Mike, I did not see any pagodas in Naples last week. But we were amazed at the variety of convertibles on offer in the States (wife struck by something called a Solistice

and Thunderbird (without the hardtop).

The Kinsale Vintage Club had their 20th May rally this weekend. Very well attended, with 100+ cars and a strong contingent from Swansea. Oldest car was a 2 family owner from new 1909 Minerva. We drove from Kinsale to Lismore and back thru The Vee. Weather perfect- high 50s easy sunshine. Mercs included several 107s, Adenaiuer 300, 60s 220se, 280se 3.5 conv and a maroon 280SL imported from Canada by Mark. We parked next to each other at Lismore but he disappeared before I could card him. Mark, are you here?

A silver one whizzed by me yesterday as I was walking in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It was glistening in the sun, and I only caught a quick look, but I could see that it was beautiful.

It's funny, I go forever without a sighting and then I see two in two days.

The first was a nice red 280 cruising downtown Waikiki at night with the top down, and the second was two miles from my house. a bluish grey 230 I believe.

Not counting my 250, that makes a total of 6 Pagoda's that I know of on an island of almost 1,000,000 people.

Copenhagen is crowded with classic mercs. Due to our insane taxes on new cars (180%+25% VAT), useable classics are in great demand. Saw a red US-spec 280 SL yesterday in the middle of Copenhagen, last week an ivory 230 SL and the week before that, my friend Jacob cruising in his white 230 SL auto looking very happy with himself (it has undergone a major engine/gearbox overhaul this winter)....
Besides this, the owner of the local juicebar drives a burgundy S-class (3,5) from the late 60's - always illegally parked, but never gets a ticket and there is a fashion photographer and a local rock star in the area both driving 190 SLs - one white, one teal blue. The rock star also has a Pagoda, but I think it is in Poland for restoration.

At the risk of rubbing it in. Here in Los Angeles, I'd say I spot another Pagoda two or three times a month. That's the positive thing about living here. How many times do I hear a story of someone's friend's Pagoda recently being stolen?... About four or five times a year. Unfortunately, twice it's been mine...

Driving into the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota.
It was a light color like off white.
