I spotted a pagoda this morning traveling South on Rt.287 near Bridgewater NJ at about 8:40am.

I drive quite a bit but I've rarely seen others on the road so when I came up from behind him I had to look closely, I was surprised to see it. I was not in mine at the time.

It's remarkable how modern these 40 year old cars look on the highway when the top is down, design wise they don't look their age at all.

I saw two this weekend.  The first one, a silver 280 SL on Friday at DeLaveaga Golf Course in Capitola, CA and the second one(or same one?) also in Capitola on Saturday afternoon in downtown Capitola.  I was there for the annual sandcastle competition.

I saw five 113's yesterday at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT. It was a sparkling late summer day with no clouds an temps in the low 80's F. Three very nice 280's (Green, Blue and Beige) were presented along with a silver highly modified car and a red "Corcedes"... a 1971 280 with a Corvette engine, seats and lots of fiberglass modifications (not my cup of tea). The event featured vintage street and race cars from Nascar to F-1; from Shelby Cobras to Lotus Europa's. It was presented by Rolex and BMW. Will definitely attend next year!

Beautiful day on the Monterey Peninsula. While driving my 230 sl I had the pleasure of encountering another 230 sl on Del Monte near the Window-on-the-Bay.

Saw another derelict May 1970 280SL.
Sad looking, but has potential. Oh well....can't we all dream?

I saw a nice red/congac 280 sl on Massachusetts Ave NW in DC yesterday.  I managed to chase him down and pull up beside him at a light and complement his car.  Its always nice to see one out of the blue

A "Gas Crisis" report on the 7:00 news in Atlanta showed this 280SL caught in line waiting to get some gas. I'll bet the owner standing at the pump was worried that the only gas available was 85 octane regular.

It is just like the Oil Embargo gas lines of the 70's all over again, I should take my 230sl to wait in line for gas with the same car that I had back then.

Wednsday - San Francisco on Front Street.  250SL with the word AUTOMATIC spelled out on the model insignia on the boot.  Cannot find the color in the tech manual - it was an off beige with some yellow in the paint.  Pretty car.

Turns out its my neighbor...4/10 of a mile away and the car is a green 280 SL. Perhaps we should start a new thread... "How close does another Pagoda reside to yours?"

Never. At least not in my hometown. I drove two hours each way to St. Louis in July to find a couple "living" examples at an all European car show for my restoration research. They must be all hiding out in rust free Colorado. I saw two nice white 230's on my last trip, not the same car I promise. One of them was driving around Old Colorado City and the sound of the engine made me completely jealous. Later, I spotted several more W113's at a Mercedes sales/repair shop. Most were customer cars in an array of colors and one was a personal restoration project. A really nice family owns the shop and they have been in the Mercedes business forever. Whenever I am in Colorado I check in hoping they will have a part I am looking for since they have an all Mercedes parts yard on site as well. They don't really sell hardtop parts though (I needed a back glass). Whenever they get a hardtop they restore and sell it...so if anyone is looking for a complete hardtop Salim's Silver Star Automobiles Service, Inc. in Colorado Springs, CO might be worth a try.

On the Washington Beltway north of the I-66 interchange, along with 10,000 folks trying to beat the trick-or-treaters home, I saw this Tobacco Brown Pagoda on a vehicle transporter.  No license plates, don't know where it was headed.

Just today in Dallas.   Went down to drop off my car to have the dash re-sprayed.   Same shop that had painted the car a couple of years ago and leaving is another 69 280sl.  Great looking white car w/ Black interior.   The owner had recently purchased from an estate sale in CA and shipped here to TX.  (Never have I seen such a rust free original trunk).  Overall car looked fantastic.  The owner states he's lurked around our site so hopefully we'll see Charles on here shortly.

I see one almost every day. For some reason our town has quite a few, 2 in my same neighborhood, a red 280sl, and a silver 250sl.
Other than those, we have one of the larger Pagoda restorers in town here as well.
