New member here. Just picked up my new to me Pagoda last week. Its a 66' 230SL and I will be its 3rd owner. I have to say this site has been a wonderful resource as I've searched for the right car. Looking forward to many fun miles ahead!

This seems like a wonderful group of people here.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Garrett. This forum seems great! I just purchased a 1964 Euro 230SL manual. The car is currently red on cognac but I plan on painting it pack to it's original color code in white. The car is a great driver at this point.. I was hoping to get some guidance from everyone as to where I can get this thing restored.. Any advice is beyond appreciated as this is my first classic!

Welcome Garret to our International Group.

You are one of the lucky ones as you have a Pagoda guru right near by in Joe Alexander who lives in Blacklick and known on here as  JA17.  He is maybe one of four top Pagoda specialists in the USA and many ship their cars to him from far away.

Meanwhile, you might consider joining as a Full Member to give you both full access to the Technical Manual here and also received the by annualmPagoda World Magazine and some Group window stickers. For the sake of $30 US per annum you will make that saving in the first error you may make without the access and knowledge of the Tech Manual.

Hi,
My name is Peter Dall & I live in Melbourne Australia.  I have coveted the mid to late 60's 230-280 SL series but alas my budget does not go to $100,000 AUD.  However I have just found a 1981 SL280 (locally) in my price range so am seriously considering buying it.  Any comments more than welcome.

After lurking and posting here for a while, I finally upgraded to Full Membership today. Looking forward to many more years of excellent exchange about the W113, although it will have to share a place in my heart with 16 motorcycles of different makes, my 1970 Porsche 914-6GT and my 1990 Corvette ZR1. 8)

Having eyed the Pagoda for decades as a must have on the bucket list of German sports cars, the right project just came along.

I am new to this group, new to the marque and an excited new owner to a 1965 230SL.  This car was on BaT back in November as a project.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-mercedes-benz-230sl-18/

The plan is to immediately ship it to Calif. and undertake the final steps in completing the car.

My prior restoration specialty is finishing restorations-in-work.  I've spent most of the last 30 years focusing on vintage BMW restorations.  But have since branched out to an XKE restoration (2016) and most recently an early Porsche 928 restoration (2019).  https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/1123822-01117-restoration-phase-ii-engine-and-front-suspension-23.html

I've wanted an SL for decades and this BaT project fits the bill perfectly.

I look forward to joining the conversation, lurking and contributing.

Hi Paul, welcome to our group! I just mailed you a new member package.

I saw that car on BAT and was seriously thinking of bidding on it too. I thought it was very interesting and seemed odd the owner didn't get the last few things done to finish the restoration and increase the car's value. I hope no surprises and all turns out great for you! Keep us posted on what you find when work on it. Also once you get it on the road! Enjoy your Pagoda tours in 2020!

Welcome Paul!

You are moving over from the dark side...??

Do I have the person correct in that you have been involved with the Legends of the Autobahn show in Monterey for BMW? I have been judging there for years, and have been chief judge for MB the past two.

Hello everybody,
I'm Fab living in Paris, France.

I purchased a 1970 w113 280SL US, light ivory (670H), dark red hard top (542G).
the pagoge is the dream of my wife.

I have also a 1982 w123 280CE, 1987 w126 560SEC and 1992 w129 500SL 6.0L AMG.

Maybe you know it already because it has a sticker SL113.org ? At the time, it was in US configuration.

Fab, welcome! Beinvenu!

You may want to check the car registry (on the site) to see if the VIN is listed.

Dynamite color combination.
