I can confirm... the owner did get the card before the rain started: Last week I saw the car in traffic on Walworth Road and carded him again  ;D He said he already had one!

Took mine out for a late morning cruise in Palm Beach.  Saw a black 190SL with red interior coming the other way.  We waved at each other.

Later on the same drive, we saw a black 280SL with black hardtop (a crime keeping the hardtop on a beautiful spring day) coming the other way.  I had switched seats to let my son drive, so I told him to wave as the other went past us, and he did.  Other driver waved back.

Spotted the same Pagoda that I saw several months back on a lift at a different garage around the corner from the first garage.

As I was taking the photo, the mechanic came out (he was dead keen on speaking to me about my dog!). Eventually I managed to ask him about the Pagoda. He mentioned that it was having ''Injection Distributor"" problems. I said that I had seen it a few months ago around the corner, when he told me they couldn't sort it and the owner has now brought the car to them.

Hmm, I hope the owner does a google search for this forum for advice as I'm not sure his diagnostic skills or knowledge of these cars will sort out the ''injection distributor'' problem!

On a separate note, spotted a good condition green 280SL Automatic on Southwark Bridge Road turning into an MOT station on Wednesday. Spring is definitely arriving in the UK!

Oh, I almost forgot: Gold pagoda spotted in Antwerp, Belgium on Monday.

Yesterday, spotted a silver Pagoda in Key West. Spoke to the owners who have had the car for many years. It travelled around the world: Germany to Hawaii to Sweden to Florida. It was in great shape, having been restored ground-up some years ago, with full history. Pointed the owners to our site and group, and I hope they will join.

Saw an Ivory SL on San Jose blvd here in Jacksonville last Saturday.  I was especially surprised because they are very rare in my color.  Traffic didn't allow me to see more.

I wonder if this is the same one I saw being pulled North behind a big RV on Interstate 75 heading towards Toledo, OH Saturday evening 5-3-14.  Brown Soft Top?

This afternoon, on the route de Lausanne just before Geneva, an off-white 230 SL with darker hubcaps, sitting by the side of the road, gentleman behind the wheel peering at something (map, mobile phone?).

A different red one today again on Bainbridge Island, looked very low, lady driving and it appeared to have an uncomfortable adult in the "third" seat.

Floating Hat,

You may care to put in your signature or identify your location where you are in the World that way we will know where you are refering to when you spot a Pagoda without having to back trac your posts to identify what you are talking about ;) ;) ;D

It's just a matter of checking the ignition pump first! Best done with new spark injectors.

But 'fuel distributor' is a valid term in modern injection isn't it? So they may know what they're talking about.
Though having dealt with many tradesmen a default assumption of incompetence is unfortunately justified in many cases.

Yes, fuel distributors are found on the K-jet systems. However these parts are very different from the injection pump found on the Pagodas.

Friday morning here in North Vancouver - I drove by 1 restoration shop - white 280sl in behind the chain, next was a repair shop - Brown 280sl and a red 230sl getting fixed, then to the upholstery shop - another 230sl outside.   Then on the way to the bank there was a white 230sl sitting outside.  So naturally I went home and took mine out for a drive.

As I drive around Vancouver BC I regularily see Pagodas (and old Porsche 911s / 356s).  Like once a week as soon as the salt is gone and like last Saturday I saw three Pagodas in one day.   I get accustomed to all the vintage vehicles on the roads and just regular exotics all over and think its all the same everywhere - but I guess its not.   .   Until recently it didn't really hit me how special it really is.  I recently went to the oregon coast and on the entire trip down I only spotted the following local cars of interest (BC plates didn't count):
one Porsche and it was an early 70's 924 thoroughly beat up
one jaguar - newer XK8
few higher end BMWs and a handful of newer mercedes and nothing I would call exotic
a 70's vintage Morgan
several VW bugs

We really do have special cars....I appreciate them just a bit more today.

Today was a 'reverse-Pagoda-spotting' for me. I had parked it to run an errand; when I got back to the car, an older lady literally came running towards me, all excited, from the sidewalk cafe terrasse across the street. She told me she used to have one just like it, in -get this- 1967. She was very sorry to have sold it, and was mine for sale by any chance. If no, she said she would simply have to steal it from me! It was great to see her enjoying the car so much. This was in Bourbonne les Bains, France.

ever since the weather got warmer, I have been on the lookout for the silver Pagoda that is usually parked by the Westside Highway 96th parking lot.   No such luck so far this season....:(
