Hi. New to the group.
I am 36 and from the uk. I trained as a yacht designer and now lecture Computer Aided Design at university.

My late father in law purchased this car in 2016 as part of his investment collection. My wife and I toured the uk with it on our honeymoon and fell in love with the car. We have owned the car now for about a year and it still puts a smile on our faces every time we get in it.

Here is our 1967 230sl in Tunis Beige (462h) with black interior.

Cheers
Jack

Hello Everyone,

My name is Brian and I live on Martha’s Vineyard island in Massachusetts. I’m a new member and owner (as of yesterday). 1969 280 ivory/tobacco automatic. It was purchased new by Colonel Oz who meticulously cared for it for 41 years or so. This forum has helped in so many ways and I’m hopeful I can pay it forward some day. Happy New Year!

Hi, I’m John from Dallas transplanted many years ago to the nation’s capital to work for another Texan, 41.  I’ve long wanted to own a pagoda but with a 1969 Chevy Impala convertible always in my garage (my Dad bought for my Mom in July of ‘69), I didn’t have the space.  Fell into my ‘67 230sl when an old friend decided to sell his after 35 years to make room for a 220 SE cabriolet.

I took possession in early Feb and am looking forward to working on it and enjoying it for a long time.  It has been well maintained but needs some attention, especially to the AC that doesn’t currently work and adding a Becker radio just purchased to replace the old 80s Panasonic.

I would be interested in any suggestions on rehabbing an ac system as well as any recommendations for quality mechanics in the DC metro area.  Thanks in advance and here are a couple of pics.  I’ve included the data plate as I’m curious what all the codes mean.  I see the color was 335H blue, but other than that, not sure.  Look forward to interacting with everyone.

Best,

John

Welcome to the group, John, and congratulations on your purchase.

Regarding the codes on the paint plate, looking these up in the technical manual will be a good starting exercise for you.  Click on “Technical Manual” at the top of the page.  Scroll down and find “Data cards and color codes”.  Click there and scroll down to find “Option codes”. You will find the code definitions there. The codes on the data plate are only a few of the codes that apply to your car.

If your friend supplied manuals and other paperwork to you with the car you may find a copy of the car’s data card among the papers. The data card will provide you with all the codes.  You can read up on the data card in the Technical Manual.  If you did not get a copy of this card, similar in looks to an old IBM card, you can obtain a copy from the Classic Center - - - for a fat fee!

I am sure some members in the Washington area will suggest quality mechanics in your area.

For the air conditioning matter.  Try the “Search Function”, the button next to Technical Manual at the top of the page.  You will find a lot of discussion on the subject.  When you get into it in detail, post your questions here on the forum.

Again, welcome to the forum.

PS.
I didn’t get invited to Washington, but I was a great fan of, W.

Many thanks, Ralph.  President Geo H.W. Bush was a great man and I was honored to serve under him.  I really appreciate the helpful suggestions!  I saw the data card info section but missed the options.  I did notice the body and hardtop appear to be coded the same 335H color even as my hardtop is white ( which made me wonder why the hubcaps weren’t also white).  And I’ll definitely check out the AC section in the technical section.

Birmingham is a great city and have several lifelong friends from there who were fraternity brothers way back in the day 😀..

Best,

John

Hi John,

You should soon see your welcoming package in the mail box I posted to you.

As for mechanics in your area go to our "Members" area then once you clicked on it click on Members, click on "View the member list"

The Member list is sortable, so click on "Location" then page down until you see your area (page 46 or near there). You can PM one of the members and find out what mechanic they use. Good luck and once again Welcome!

Hi,

My name is Tony, from Brisbane, Australia.

We own a 1997 Scania K93 bus, which we converted into a motorhome, back in 2020.

A thread, in General Discussion, talks about a Bosch diesel injector pump, but the link doesn't appear to work.

Hopefully, someone can help with regards to an issue that I have with the pump.

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony.  We're a very helpful bunch here, so maybe you'll get some information.

Instead of working the issue here in the Welcome thread, please reply to that thread you mentioned.  Include specifics about both the pump and engine you're working on.

hola luis
Si "agrega archivos adjuntos" en la parte inferior de la ventana en la que escribe, puede agregar imágenes con bastante facilidad. Me encantaría ver más de 124

Hi Luis. If you "add attachment" at the bottom of the window in which you type, you can add pictures easy enough. Would love to see more of 124

Regarding attachments, sometimes when posting I am sent to a "Quick Reply" screen than doesn't include the click-on "Attachments and other options" line under the dialogue box.

Mike you need to click on Attachments it should work, then select your file. I normally place the file I like to attach on my desktop, this way it is easier to find and attach.

Mike,
I understand your issue, but I'm not sure how you get to this simplified reply screen.  Anywhere I click reply, I get the option for attachments.
