In your photo showing your AC components I did not see the compressor mounting bracket. I see the Adapter plate for the rotary compressor. Do you plan to use the big beast bracket or one sourced from a sedan? The sedan bracket allows mounting the alternator in its original non-AC car location. The big beast bracket requires you to move the alternator up and place the compressor in the alternator position. Most find that the big bracket makes servicing the engine more challenging. Using The sedan bracket also requires a different upper thermostat housing with a taller neck so the radiator hose can clear the sedan bracket.

There is a change of plans, I'm selling the restored dashboard unit.
Because the missing parts are not easy to find and I need the money for the project.
Again something else.

Fortunately there is something new to show from the 230SL, the bodywork is now completely smooth and primed.

Great there is progress!

So interior (cabin) was black? Like 190SL? I had the impression trunk and soft top bay were black only...

What size tyres are on those wheels ;)

Looks really lovely. I'd be terrified of putting it back together for fear of scratches

Have you kept the final paint fine sand, cut and polish as the last paint process for after you have completed the rebuild

Hi Eric, congratulation!

Now the real (own) work can begin. When I got my 280Sl car body home I took me still a year before I could start the engine, and then the debugging begins…….

Success, fun and if you need a “hand” let me know, Peter

Very very nice.

Is the paint two stage ( basecoat with clear on top) or single stage?

Looks fantastic.

Enjoy

There are several layers of original paint (containing lead), which will be polished when the car is ready.

Looks really nice! Very straight with no waves. Not something done without a lot of work on a dark color.

You may already thought of this but I would cover each panel now in shipping foam wrap now until you are done with the assembly process. Its cheap and very protective. It’s what we saw them do at the world famous RM restoration shop last summer at the “meeting of the clans”.

Yes I started with this, but more practicable protection has been ordered yet.  ;D

The cross strut of the rear axle has been mounted and the Pagode now rests on the front suspension after more than a year and a half again.

Nice it's at the wheels again.
Is it usual that the back is so high or have I used wrong rubbers (with original springs used)?
