Door latch step

Are door latches designed to be strong against tensile or shear forces?  Scroll way down on the website until you find the video.  It's a great idea, if the car part is designed for that type of force.

OMG. You first!
I have a better idea. It’s called a ladder or stepstool.

I can easily see something like that eventually deforming the piece it hooks onto, depending on the weight of the person using it.

Then one will wonder why their door never closes properly any longer…

Deforming the loop or catch or whatever it's officially called?  Yes, that's a possibility.  I was more concerned about the possibility of pulling out the screws or rivets or spot welds holding that piece to the door jamb.

The site says 310 lbs weight limit, but that's for their device. What's the limit for the part on the vehicle?  I mean, it's supposed to keep the door closed in an accident, which can be very high forces, but this is stress/force in a different direction.  I don't know.  It's a creative idea, but I don't know if I'd use one.

For a regular car you do not need it. For SUV (not to mention off-road cars) you should be able to step on the tire. In emergency you can pull out floor mat and put it on the door sill.

Why would you even consider using this thing?

The only thing I’ve seen similar is a latch that makes it easier for oldies to get in and out of cars 🤣

My sometimes famous father (age 103!) has this…though through PT and yoga he has gotten stronger and “grew out” of it. No longer needed.
