Breather Tube Cover Installation
« on: July 02, 2025, 18:14:01 »
Greetings folks,
Having acquired a new rubber cover for the breather hose on my 69 280SL, I'm struggling to slip it over the two pipes. In the absence of silcone I liberally applied all components with vasalene but to no avail. I'm afraid of breaking the plastic tube.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

John

Can you post photos of the components?

Maybe try to warm it up. I'd also probably do the larger tube first, if it was me. But I'm not speaking from experience since my breather tube is different.

Soak the rubber in very hot water, then apply some dish soap to the inside of the rubber. Should help it slide. Use a hair drier if needed to re apply heat.
