Hi everyone. I finally got round to fixing a leak on my power steering box. I tried using the quick fix to replace the seals at the bottom of the box but it did not work. I ordered a new power steering box (rebuild) and have fitted it into the car and its ready for fluid.  What is the correct fluid to use?

Regards

Did you change your POWER STEERING PUMP, the STEERING BOX, or both? Both of mine are leaky and it's next up on my list...along with the hoses.

Pinder,

I used Mercedes Power Steering Fluid compliant with MB 236.3.

You are a Full Member. You have access to and you can use this resource: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Restricted/ServiceManual

You have all the fluids and all the capacities there.

Part number for 1 liter: A000989880310. You need 1.4 liters.

thanks everyone.

I replaced only the power steering box. not the pump.

It was relatively straight forward to change although I needed a little help holding the pump from top and me installing it from the bottom.

I ordered the pump from Autohaus AZ . It came within a week.  It came well packaged. I have to return my old one for a core charge.
