Master Brake Cylinder

Need info/video on rebuilding the Master Brake Cylinder on 60’s Benz.  Thanks, Larry L.

What year or model? The early cars have different master cylinders than the later cars. Unless you think it will be a fun learning experience, the master cylinder is a part that you may prefer buying. It's pretty reasonable, especially the later cars.

It’s a 1966 250SE/C.  I already have a rebuild kit;  the brake peddle goes almost to the floor and will not pump up, no leaks of fluid noticeable from the calipers etc..   LLLL

I would think it’s a pretty generic job. There’s probably many videos on Youtube you can look at.

Just remove the retaining ring and slide the pistons out. Remove the (cup) seals and renew them.

I won't rebuild a MC unless I have no other options. It's very difficult to reproduce the mirror finish inside the cylinder and without that they tend to leak. Plus I have to consider liability.
