I tend to agree with Achim's statement "there are often "internal" cast or (stamped numbers on the part that do not match the entries in the parts list".

I have a spare front manifold with number 127 142 0505 and a spare rear manifold with number 127 142 0708 (or 06).  The chassis number of the car from which the parts originated is not known as I have an "Austauschmotor".

From chassis number 13865 and forward the later non header style was used according to Laurence Meredith's "Original Mercedes SL" restorer's guide W113.

Yes, part casting numbers most often are not the same as the MB part numbers.

« Reply #29 on: February 25, 2025, 13:26:09 »
I cannot believe these manifolds have sold yet.

I also have brand new stainless downpipes made by Time Valve that will go with the restored manifolds.

See pictures.

I am open to all offers.

This manifold set is as nice as you can find. If your 230SL does not have the correct header style manifolds then here is your opportunity.

Peter Perry,

Put them on eBay.

A few years ago, when I changed my driver's door from a 230SL door to a 280SL door (yes there is a difference internally and externally), I pre-announced the availability of the old door--which for what it's worth, had a flawless 568 Signal Red paint finish. I did this as work was being done on my car.

Not one inquiry. Crickets. Nary a question or anything here over a period of months. What was curious was in the two year project of finding a replacement door, what I found were a number of passenger (RH) doors but no driver (LH) doors. Thus it did take me about two years to find one, and only through the care and concern and good memory of a fellow member here who spied one on Craigslist in the NYC area.

I put the old door on eBay and it sold in a heartbeat. Not too many people here looking for things.

They are on EBAY.

I find it astounding that these have not sold.

These headers are not painted. They are coated (maybe jet coated). What does the cost of coating cost? $300 or more?

Many early 230SL's are missing their correct headers because the originals cracked and were replaced by the common later style manifolds that were used in later 230's and up as well as sedans.

There is a clear difference in the exhaust note of a 230SL that has these headers installed.

I am open to all offers for this package.

I guarantee buyer satisfaction. They are that nice and deserve to go on a nice W113.
