Bolt on side of Block
« on: September 19, 2022, 18:02:10 »
hello all, can someone please explain the purpose of this bolt on the side of the block? (red arrow in the photo below) Reason I ask, the bolt was missing when I got my block back and I'm not sure what it looks like nor how long it is. thanks in advance, charles

Nothing goes there. I don't think the hole is even threaded.

Oh good grief, I pointed the arrow at the wrong thing! Thanks Joe, do you know what the bolt further below on the chain gallery is for?

It is a rounded end bolt that helps to keep the chain from jumping off. On a power steering car it also holds the lower steering pump reservoir bracket.  There are two length bolts depending on if it has power steering or not.
