1970 280SL cooling fan clutch
« on: May 20, 2022, 19:57:15 »
The bearings on my original fan clutch are starting to go, so I plan to replace it soon. I would appreciate guidance on which aftermarket unit to install, as units no longer available from MB Classic.

I just completed this job on my 250 SL. I did find the Behr clutch (OEM) and it was about $1000! I opted to continue looking. The folks around here were pretty well down on the URO unit. I found a Meyle from K&K out of Michigan and that is what I went with.

I did speak with my mechanic and he has been using Hudson.

Thank you for your answer. I also want to avoid $1000, but don't want to be too cheap either.

Hi,
here I can find cheap ones only: https://www.daparto.de/Kuehlerluefter-Kupplung/Mercedes-Benz-SL-Pagode-W113/3-9310a012-851. Maybe the Meyle would be fine.

Just replaced mine, given that I'm making every effort to retain OE on every part, was able to dig up a OEM MB part for $800.00

Thank you. I found a slightly used example and will have it installed next month!
