Members here and experts are two different things. Not all members are experts, and not all experts are members. Further, amongst those member who are experts or close to it, many of them are more familiar with the specific model that they have, as opposed to the full line of W113.

We have just 37 members in Italy. Of those 37, 13 are full, paid members, and 24 are associate members, not paid. Of all 37 members in Italy, 25 have never made a posting. Only 7 have made more than 10 posts. None appear to be in nearby Venice, or Padova I'm afraid.

I think it will be quite interesting information get such statistic about the numbers of the members in this forum with the split to the countries. Is this possible without any big effort?

I don't know if because I'm a board member, I see anything different than regular full members or not.

But, all I did was go to the members tab, search for members, tick the location box, add Italy and there was a page of Italian members.
The detail is presented on the page. Yes I had to count by hand the full/associate, and look at the number of posts, etc.

It will be to complicated to count it by hand.
I think, that also You as a board prepare a kind of annual report.
May be there once a year it could be an interesting point to prepare such statistic?
To know the total number of active members with the different split for instance to each country (I do not know how the record is build in the data base). Compared to the former year you will get the trend.
Of course you will get many other interesting information's. May be this is already done? I do not know where to look for the annual reports?

Ah, yes. "you as a board should____" (fill in the blank with what is on your mind today.

As if some of us don't have enough to do already!

We do prepare annual reports. Maybe those on the membership side of things may see some usefulness for this additional task.

It took me but a few minutes to do this for Italy. What would be challenging is for the larger countries.

It's quite easy to do for me as an admin. However, I cannot give you an accurate history (for the past) but I could for the future. The query is:
select distinct country, count(*) as members, count(if(activemember=1, 1, NULL)) AS full from smf_members group by country order by country

And the result is:

The picture isn't completely clear from that, in my opinion. Look at the further breakdown on postings I provided for Italy.

You need to further break down the membership to those that have made postings. Even full members with no posts probably visit the site very little. I can tell you from experience with the book and other projects that these "lurkers" so to speak, don't often pay attention to emails, either. They don't contribute much and if they don't visit, not sure what they get out of it either, other than the magazine. No different than many clubs and most forums.

On the other hand, from my experience with "Pagoda Style" which sold out very quickly at the MB Museum Gift Shop, as well as Amazon and eBay, there are far more people that love these cars for some reason, than are members of any kind here. Most books went to non-members. So, plenty of Pagoda lovers and owners around the world that may not be members here.

For the sake of having everything a tiny bit more correct, you may want to ask the one member from "Scotland" and the two members from "England" why they decided to list their location NOT as United Kingdom and thus be included in that total...

I took the list and looked at Full Members only and made myself a little bar chart for a better visual image of where our Full Members are. Surprising to me, Germany, where the car is from, has quite a few members, but ranks way down in Full membership

For me this statistic was also a big surprise regarding Germany and such small number of members.
Few weeks ago I presented a statistic from KBA (Federal Motor Vehicle Office) regarding the number of registered Pagodas in Germany - per 1.01.2021 it was 4.686 Pagodas. This show the potential of the market. All of us know, that the real number is much higher than this ( including: projects, cars in restoration and cars in collection and dealers showrooms).

In my opinion there are at least two reasons, why so little members are here from Germany:
1. Very strong local forum- Pagodentreff.de,
2. Communication problem.

Surprising to me also that the UK has the second largest membership by some way considering the size of the country. I guess the English and Scottish listed are just very patriotic.
