UK Drive It Day 25th April
« on: April 30, 2021, 16:54:07 »
Got my car out of storage last week ready for Sunday's "Drive It Day", where enthusiasts take out whatever their classic car is.  I met up with some other Benz lovers and enjoyed a cool but eventually sunny top-down drive in convoy from South London out into the Surrey hills.

We were out on my motorbike on the South Circular and came across a group of about a dozen assorted “classics” in the inevitable queue.
All were out for Drive it Day, and all had little Jamaican flags flying. Such a tendency in the UK to think of older white blokes into their old cars, so to see an age range of black blokes was a lovely change.

Drive it Day is organised by the Federation of Historic Vehicle Clubs, and normally they organise caravans to various points in the country, that people join as they pass and end up at points like Goodwood or Silverstone or Gaydon for a cuppa. End of winter, get out and drive it.

That was probably the Afro-Caribbean classics gang, which includes a friend of ours from the MB Club who drives a lovely C107 coupe (although I am gradually talking him round to a Pagoda).
