Propshaft Flexi Joint
« on: March 31, 2021, 14:52:34 »
I had a catastrophic failure of the flexible coupling on my 4 speed 280 .. the flexible coupling flew apart at speed ... ouch ... I have managed to get all the parts to repair the damage including a new flexible coupling ... I noticed on the information regarding the flexible that it’s important that it’s fitted with the correct orientation .
My problem is that the new Flexi, although it’s the correct part has no indication of what the orientation should be , and is not like the moulding on the technical info on our forum ... I’ve attached a couple of photos of the coupling and I’m looking for some sage advice ! ... thanks in advance ... Jim

I believe these are bi-directional but I was always taught in my MB training to fit couplings so that lettering was towards propshaft unless stated otherwise.

I just re-read the article on the flexdisc in the technical manual and noticed the paragraph on ‘ new style flex disc’ ... problem solved !

Yes the new flex discs are much more robust and are able to be installed in either direction.
