Gear Linkage

Hi All

Does anyone know whether the gear-shift linkage is shared amongst the W111/W108 and W113.

I am in need of a replacement as mine has broken at the gear shift end. I have found this on e-bay, but am unsure whether it's compatible with W113 (manual factory 4 speed 250sl - early).

Only on floor shift models with top loaded transmissions. And generally, only on similar years.

The length of the rods may be different? Some of the stiffener rods vary by the size of the ends depending on year. The chrome shift rod is the same, but some years have a slight bend forward.

Attached a picture with c-c measurement for W113 Pagoda four-speed gearbox thrust arm (stabilizer rod).

The item in your picture (web link) is too long, but it can of course be cut and re-threaded if you care to spend the effort. Use the end fitting with eyelet from your old thrust arm

Unless I am mistaken, the angle of the shifter end does look slightly different on mine compared to the eBay item. I've attached pictures of mine to compare...

Perhaps I would be better off trying to repair mine by cutting off the rod where the thread has sheared off, welding a new piece of rod to the linkage and re-threading the end?

Uh, those aren't shifter rods. Those are stabilizer rods. There are different ones for different  models but they're all basically the same.
