Planning to attend with wife and (hopefully) my pagoda. It will be a 300 mi drive (from home, in Arapahoe, NC) but I know the route well since my daughter lives in Charlottesville. I look forward to meeting some of the folks whose Forum posts have been so helpful.

Coming to this rather late, but is there a thread with some of the details I need to review? I'm hoping to attend but don't know with whom I need to sign up, look at accommodations, etc.

Grateful for any pointers. Thanks.

Hi James,

Tom and Chuck will in the near future issue a Registration thread amongst other details like activities planned during the event. Just keep an eye out for it whenever you come to the site under "unread posts since last visit"

Meanwhile read Tom's post under Reply #2

Here At this Link ---->  http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=25456.0

Note however, I believe you need to be a Full Member in order to attend PUB (can one of the other Board Members confirm that this is so?). Or can James attend as a guest if he travels with another Full Member?

Enrique,

Please refer to the link I posted to James above. I am sure the Tom's Farm Address will be part of the information that will be posted in the near future. Meanwhile you can use Charlottesville, VA as your destinations the Farm as I understand is only 11 miles from Charlottesville.

Best,

Hello All
I am a fairly new member and am very interested in attending. Would fly in (open to suggestions on where/how id best) as my car is not running but the thought of driving across the country from California with no AC doesn't sound too appealing even if it was. I have spent a lot of time on this forum the last couple of months soaking up all the knowledge and working on my restoration. Can't wait to learn more.
Is there any type of inquiry as to what topics are of the most interest for the event?

Hi Doug,

We are still working on the technical session topics, and will post the topics and presenters as soon as it is finalized.  If there is anything of specific interested, please let me know and we will what we can do.

At the same time I'm trying to complete the assembly of my car for the trip to PUB, I've decided to eliminate left over stuff and get rid of stuff I'll hopefully never use again.  Consequently, I'm putting stuff in a box to bring to PUB to give away.

So far, there are:

o  part of a fresh air vent grill with several still useful vanes and the circular rotating vane holder and spring,  I bought a used assembly from one of the members here and used one or two of the vanes to repair my original one.  This is what's left.

o  four 6006 2RS radial bearings for a 230SL (at least) driveshaft intermediate (center) bearing.  I had to buy five from a wholesaler and only used one.

o  the tool that I made and used to remove and install the torsion rods for the soft top cover and trunk hinges.  You can see the tool, along with the procedure I wrote up in the technical manual, in the trunk section.  Maybe it could be treated like the hubcap paint stencil and shared with whoever needs it.  At any rate, I hope never to need it again.

At my age, once the car is finished, I never plan to work on it again.  I'm going to drive it and pay others to repair it, so I'm going to dispose of everything except the most basic tools.  I don't have much yet, but I've only just started today.

Between now and PUB, I expect to find a few other Pagoda parts and home made restoration tools to give away at PUB.

If anyone else finds Pagoda stuff to get rid of that isn't worth the effort of selling or the cost of shipping, but too valuable to scrap, maybe you can bring it along and we can set up a table of "FREEBIES" at PUB.

I took a look at the Eventbrite site for the PUB Virginia event and clicked on the green "Tickets" button.   One of the possible selections is "Day Pass-Sunday Only" at $25.00 plus a fee of $2.37.  When I looked there were 25 such tickets remaining.  I didn't find an explanation for this item.  Can someone from the organizing committee advise what this ticket covers.
Thanks

Ralph,

The Sunday Daypass is a way to allow locals access to come out and look at the cars. Each ticket type will come with a bracelet that allows admission for the designated portion of the event. If someone purchases a Sunday Daypass, they would only be admitted on Sunday.  The location is such that we can actually scan tickets as people enter (or we can scan the ticket on your smart phone like an airline). If someone buys a General Admission ticket, that ticket is good for Friday through Sunday afternoon and includes meals.  Once you enter the first time and your ticket is scanned, we will give you a bracelet that allow re-entry each day. Hope this helps.

Best,

Just bought my ticket for PUB. I am assuming that I can go back in later (before 15 Sept) and purchase the optional Sunday drive ticket? Just not sure right now of travel plans for departure.

Yes, as long as there is space. There is a limit to the number of tickets available.

Hello all,

I just booked my ticket and look forward to attending and meeting everyone! Unfortunately the car has to stay in Europe, at least for the moment.

So this event is not open to the members who just want to drop in without a ticket.
I've done that at PUB 2013 and I enjoyed it throughly.
Thanks Joe for that wonderful event!

Hi guys.

Well the drive from Winnipeg to the PUB is 29 hours without stopping according to Google.  I just bought my tickets so I am going, but how to get there is the question. Do I fly there which takes 7 hours, or drive to Chicago and join a caravan! At this point I don't know. What I do know is that on Sept, 13th, I turn 55 years old, so I will be spending my Birthday with some of you, if I decide to drive, which makes me happy.(don't tell my wife that)..

Ron would love to caravan with you again.  If you want to get to Chicago a day early we have a extra bedroom and can get some REAL Chicago Deep Dish Pizza.  We will even get a canolli put a candle on it for your birthday dessert.

Tickets for me and my wife have been purchased.
Has there been any discussion on bring pets, dogs???
Will dogs be welcome for the whole event and meals in the barn? Cocktail party?
I assume dogs won't be welcome at the Saturday night dinner.
Of course I am talking about properly supervised dogs with no "gifts" left behind.  ;D

Hey Ron.K,
I would not have guessed you were 54/55.
My guess would have been low to mid 40's !!
Looking forward to seeing you .... and your car.

Can someone who knows, answer waltklatt's question about pop in attendance??? Others might want to know the answer too.
Thanks,
Mark

Walter is making a statement, not asking a question.  But to be clear, you must purchase a ticket to attend.

Just a statement, but a sad one too.
Not going to come, as Sunday is out.  Saturday would be nice, but not in the package.
Thanks Tom for the fun.

I won't be there but don't begrudge the charges.  These events take time, effort and expense to coordinate and host volunteers are usually few and far between.  "Club" attendees should be happy to contribute to the club even if just dropping in.  In the 190 SL Group, we don't slice and dice it like this, you pay the full fare and go for the ride or pay the full fare and do less than the full ride if you want.  But, either way, you pay the fare.  And, if you don't show, you don't get your money back.  Even if you're not there, commitments have been made and club money laid out.

The Eventbrite page for ticket purchase mentions, "Polo Shirt," with a link to the companycasuals.com site.  Will Company Casuals be selling a special PUB Virginia polo, tee or other PUB Virginia merchandise?
