Grain direction on MBtex
« on: January 10, 2014, 05:58:29 »
Hi, have got my MBtex to replace the old stuff on the hatch for the soft top, and the MBtex around the bottom of hard top.  is there a particular way the "grain" pf the MBtex should run, ie side to side or back to front of the car?

Rutger,

I am not aware of any direction/orientation of the original MB-Tex grain. There should be none.

This is John's (49er) original seat.

Can you show us a picture of your vinyl, is it different?

Hi Achim, thanks for that, first of all the photo you show is the mottled cognac which has a much more pronounced pattern than bamboo, however, I showed the new MBtex to my wife who demonstrated to me, how the sideways grain shows up more when its stretched. She also started talking about bias and selvidge and other terms which showed me I should have asked her in the first place!

Thanks for your reply anyway.
