Softtop Locking Pin: how to take apart?
« on: September 03, 2008, 17:50:03 »
It appears that the eye of the chrome handle slides over the threaded locking shaft and is fixed by a small pin that goes through both parts.
I tried to separate the handle and the locking shaft - after removing the small pin - but it appears that the diameter of even the narrower, locking side is to wide to pass through the eye.
How did they put them together in the first place and how can you get them apart? :?:  :?:

It is rare that I have a chance to answer my own question  :)
but what a surprise, I would have never guessed that the locking shaft is actually assembled from two pieces! I guess in the 60s M-B never did anything simple if it could be made complicated.[:0]
