Any idea what the four curved "fingers" are for? - I have a 230SL and they are not on mine.

Cheers

Thanks....Is there not also a secondary safety latch.... or is that just on newer cars?

PS I just couldn't figure out what the copper strips did...

The secondary latch is a spring loaded hook on the driver's side of the hood.

Sorry don't have a picture handy.

Safety latch is a little 4-5" metal hook and lever secured by a spring-loaded hinge to the left side of the hood, not too far from the rear left corner of the hood. It is secured into a little square hole on the inner left front fender area.

Like most (all?) cars, when the hood is released from inside the car, you need to reach under the hood to release this safety latch.

You don't have to yell.
