Question_Owner's literature items

Hi. Can anyone share a complete list of items included along with the original owner's packet with our cars besides the manual (pics would be great too)? Did this change much between the 230-250-280? Am just trying to figure out what I am still missing for a '68 280SL. I checked the technical manual section of the site but didn't see anything there. Thanks much!

Here is a list from Doug Kim (search "Manual" subject line only)
A lot of the items were also found in sedans from the day. Off the top of my head, here are a few things you would find in a US-spec 280SL:

-owner's manual (dated accordingly)
-service booklet (stamped with VIN)
-dealer list (US & Int'l)(I think these were published quarterly)
-seatbelt instructions
-Becker radio packet (usually with antenna key for manual Hirschmann)
-metal embossed owner's plate
-pink data card with original factory configuration indicated
-soft top manual
-113 parts book
-lt brown vinyl pouch

There should also be:
A dealer map for the region
Air Conditioner manual if so equipped
Cleaning products book (shows a spray can on the cover)
Consumer information booklet (stopping distances)

A 1967 250SL seems to have landed in my driveway and I only know what I have read in the last several hours, so forgive my ignorance.

Where can I get the repro owner's manual and/or CD?

How could it happen that a 250 SL landed in your driveway ?

OK, originals sometimes come up on ebay or so.
Reproductions are available from Mercedes-Benz.
I just tried to find a good English (American) homepage... argh.

A long-time friend of the family is willing to part with the car and my partner and I are interested in it.  He told us to take it home for a while and get to know it.  We are looking for rust.  The worst of it seems to be some minor perferation in the left side of the trunk floor.  Other than that, there is some (what I think is) surface rust in the wells under the wooden box parcel shelf thing.  I think that I can repair both of these.  Any opinion on the Eastwood 2-part rust stopper stuff?

Scott,

You can get replacements for those panels (and all the others) at K&K Manufacturing.  I just replaced almost all of my floors with their panels.

Make sure you check the footwells where they bend up to the firewalls.  The drain tubes from the fresh air vent tend to leak there and cause rust (ask me how I know).  If the area is covered by the tar paper underlayment, you can check from under the car.  While you're there check the wheel wells, particularly where they meet the rocker panels.
