Bob,

I've added three of your pictures. Have a look.

You just need to paste the "htpp\\..." address in the right place.

I have two detailed instructions/discussions I've put together on how to refurbish both of these pumps. I include these with the repair kits I've put together but would also be glad to include these instructions in the manual if you would like. They are about 8 pages long and go through the whole process from disassembly to reassembly and test. I never got around to including any pictures but have plenty that I could add to those provided by Bob and Naj. Will be back in D.C tonight after a trip up here to Maine with the wife to buy a retirement home--up in Old Orchard Beach-Not terribly far from Gernold who I did not have a chance to drop in and see on this trip.

Thanks mate.
I have it sorted now.
Have another look please.

George,
The information I added is just the beginning, correct/add to it as necessary.

Naj/Bob--I sent you an e-mail asking for yours so I can get copies of the instructions to each of you so you can review/edit, etc as you wish. They are rather detailed but are comprehensive enough that no one should have a problem doing a rebuild on either pump. If they need a kit to save them them time, I can provide that, or let them know what they will need to find for themselves.

:?: This is a usefull thread wiht great Pics.

I stripped and cleaned out my pump from 20 years of standing. It works fine but pushes out fuel fuel form the overflow. I started my car with the overflow leaking into a gallon.

Were can I get repair parts? It is a 230SL with the long type of pump.

Brushes
Bellows
O rings
clip that holds the belows
Seal that the bellows sits agains (one of Naj's pictures shows this)

Thanks everyone. This is a great forum.

Have a look here for the fuel pump article:

http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.FuelPumpRebuild

Bob has given dimensions and part #s for available items.

The bellows, clip etc. are no longer available. You may have to look for a 'donor' pump if thease items are not servicable.

Hey Haj,
The brushes and testing pics will complement the others nicely.

I am going to remove my name from the Tech Manual article so that NO One person gets credit.
The collaboration makes a great piece of information.

Note:

As the manual is still being structured, the fuel pump article may move... it's here http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Fuel.FuelPumpRebuild now.

In future, it's best to stick the pictures for a Wiki article here http://index.php?topic=7536, then at least people hopefully do not continue to ask questions about it. Better yet, you can now upload pictures straight into the Wiki (have a look here http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.News).

Finally, do please leave your name(s) in the article, or better yet, add you name here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=General.Start#Credits. People who work on the manual have every right to be credited, and hopefully with a lot great effort from many people we'll get a great result.

Also, I will (at some point) go throug the article and add structure, headers, and links to it. I'll also try and make the formatting consistent with other articles, like this http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Electrical.Start.
