Site pages slow to load
« on: October 23, 2025, 09:34:44 »
Just wondering if anyone else is having the webpages on here load slowly.

It’s taking up to a minute and a half to load up a page for me.

Is it just an Australian thing or is the hosting server having issues?

Hey Bob,

On my iPhone I just cleared the website data out of Safari under Settings>Apps>Safari>Advanced>website Data>Search for sl113 and delete the file.

Reopened the site and logged back in.

Seems to have worked for me. A similar process may work on other browsers

On another note, your car is exactly like mine, except mine is manual.

Doug

******Update - Seems to slow down again once the browser saves some data from previously visited pages. Back going slow again *******

Not a good answer, but also good to hear it's not me.  I thought I had computer or internet or malware issues.

Whew!

Amazon web hosting had some serious issues in the past days, maybe that has affected our site's performance as well. Good to see I can at least get back in now, I could not for the past 24 or so hours.

Isn't it sad when we get angry and frustrated when it takes over a minute to load a page, a whole minute, when we expect it to take nano seconds

Personally i don't like this fast paced world we live in, it makes me lose patience with everything

A typical evening in the Howard household, my wife and i with our heads buried in our laptops, cursing that this doesn't work, that doesn't work, i can't click on that, it's asked me to sign in twice already, i'm sick of seeing the wheel of death, best reset the router, i can't put up with this any longer, this is ruining my life!

i think we should get a life!

I hear you Bob, but the issue isn't the time or our patience...it's the fact that something isn't right and needs fixing.
Imagine you are in your Pagoda, and your brakes have been working fine for YEARS. You go up to a stop light, just like you have for decades, and all is well. Suddenly this afternoon, you brake just as normal but instead glide through the light before the car will stop, and end up past the intersection before the car stops. Yeah, that indicates something changed and needs addressing. If the brakes had ALWAYS been like that, no problem. But a 100m stopping distance when compared to your usual 50m stopping distance, well something changed and needs repair. That's the situation with the website. Thankfully I believe it was a quick fix.

Dear all,

regrettably when the slow down occurred I was travelling to an exhibition in Germany and also full time at this exhibition. I did log in on the system and could not find anything out of the ordinary on our system. The load is low, nothing has changed.

I've just submitted a ticket to the webhoster.

I've been checking some configuration items and modifying a few low-level config options.
I have the feeling there is some improvement, but please check and let me know how you go...

What I do notice is that the first couple of page loads are very slow, and then it appears to speed up a little.
