Yet another "which coil" question.
« on: September 01, 2025, 14:09:40 »
When I first got my 230 it had the original points and the RED Bosch coil.  I got fed up with points and changed to the 123 ignition, and also bought the 123 coil coil that 123 sell and suggest.

All great so far.    The 123 system is fantastic.

Clearing out my garage I realised I still had the old distributer and the RED coil and ballast that used to be in my car.  It was a few years ago but thought I would keep them "just in case" as you do.

Anyway, now the question :  RED coil or 123 coil? ( with the 123 ignition,) or would it not make any difference?  Also 123 suggest no ballast resistor, but would you with the RED coil.?

Lots of people rave about the RED coil being the "best". No idea why, but would be interested in anyone's thoughts.

I would stick with the 123 recommended coil and no ballast resistor.
