New carpets and floor mats for a 71 280 sl

Good morning Pagoda group
I want to replace the carpet in my 280 SL. I have always had great success reaching out to this forum for great recommendations and hope I luck out again.

I have a complete set of light brown (cognac I think) from GAAH. New - never installed.

Are you stating that because you want to recommend GAAH?  Or, are you offering to sell yours?

I had a wonderful experience purchasing a set from GAHH.  Understand that the colors of multiloop carpets available today differ significantly from the originals.  Further, a good result is highly dependent on the installation.  Certain pieces will need to be trimmed to fit correctly.

Mine are blue - so I'm not sure what baige would look like in a blue car with Cream colored interior.

I called them today and learned a lot. They offer a German square weave, which was used in the 230 and 250 SL's, but never offered for the 280's? A couple hundred more for them, but an option if I want to upgrade The 280's came with the Multiloop carpets.
Fun fact - My father bought the car used in 1981 - but it is also a father to son car, with just 1 prior owner.
I also see you are in San Leandro - pretty close to me in San Rafael. Do you do any local rides?

There's a website that allows you to pick different colors paint and color soft top, and it puts it on a Pagoda.  You can virtually rotate the car to see your color choices better.  It may also do interiors.  I'm sure someone reading this will remember the site.

My interior is beige with beige multiloop carpets.  The original carpets were much darker and a solid color.  The beige upholstery is almost identical to original.  I actually prefer the newer carpet color.  If’s  you have original blue carpets then your upholstery is probably parchment.  That’s a killer interior!  The new blue multiloop is pretty close to the original. 

I’ve attached a pic showing the old and new carpets to illustrate  how different they are.
