Door panel removal questions

Hi all!
I have to remove the door panel on my w111 coupe from 1961. I have figured out the most but i don't know what the best way to remove the door lock chrome parts.
It has a little chrome part sitting on the round part, #21 on the parts pictures catalog. Anyone know how to remove that?

Try sliding the two #21 away from the middle of #20. That should reveal two small screws holding #20 in place. Remove the two screws to remove #20.

Lee is correct. Those two trim pieces simply slide to cover the screws that hold #20. Given how everything else is fastened to the panels, I always found this a below par method. It is the same on my '60 Ponton coupe.

Alright, nice picture! When those screws are removed and the mechanism is to be removed so the door panel can be lifted out I guess is has to be disconnected from the rod i can see to the left or is there another under the plate?
And, do you have more pictures of the door? Mine is a early car, body number #216 from 1961 but I think the door is similar to your car.

Everything about the door :-). Specially how the upper part #85 is mounted to be clear of the safest method to remove it.

Is your door panel still on? I know how #85 panel cap mounts and is the same as the cap on the rear panel. To remove, you remove the two chrome pates (#108 and #104). Those hold the cap at the ends. There are spring clips (#002 988 45 78) that are fixed into the cap and then press into slots in the door. So just pop the cap upwards off the door. If you need new clips buy from Authentic or other repudiable supplier. Some on EBay are bad copies and do not work. Ask me how I know.

The chrome strip on the cap is press fitted to the cap and comes off with the cap. The door panel is held on to the door frame at the ends by the chrome panels and at the bottom by a chrome rail. it is then screwed to the door frame along its upper edge. They are tiny screws and usually snap off. You can make new screw holes if needed as these are covered by the chrome trim strip. The arm rest and handle also help secure the panel to the door frame.

I wasn't able to take pics of my panel-less door but will in the next day or so.
