Two single wires both being green/white

Two single wires both being green/white that if I read this schematic correctly, they go to the ignition and light switch, though both parts already have those colors in the harness that is attached to them. One other thing those wires I don't think is long enough to attach them both to their respective switches.

a green/white cable connects the ignition starter switch (terminal P) to the light switch (terminal PA) to establish a connection to the parking light in stage 1. As far as I know, there are no other cables of this color.

Hello, i read that you'd replaced your loom, and the colours may not therefore match with the original.  Do you not have the instructions that came with the loom?  if not then you may have to trace the other ends of these wires to find their purpose.  Are there any vacant terminals on the light switch or the ignition switch?

If that harness matches original wiring colors, then the placement for the WHITE/green cables is the following:

1. At the Main light switch, port 56. Same pot that handles WHITE/yellow 2.5 mm headlight feed line.  There you attach one end, which will be the feed side of your US spec SIDE MARKERS.   On the original harness, Mercedes used two thin lines White/green in that place.  Maybe your repro harness simplified the issue with one thicker line instead, as feed line

2. On the engine bay area, left fender, or next to brake booster there should be an auxiliary fuse box to protect that particular circuit.  There goes the other end white/green.  I AM ASSUMING here that the white/green line is just one that has two ends: input for main light switch, output for aux fuse box.

3. In that area were the aux fuse box is, you need to have two output lines white /green.  One of them will feed both headlights side markers,  and the other line returns from that point to your 12 pin connector that interconnects to rear wiring harness to feed rear SIDE MARKERS

Dear Mr Henderson

As far as I remember, because I produced for you the emission control harness, your car is a 280SL.

On all pagodas there is a GREEN/white line that goes from MAIN LIGHT SWITCH to IGNITION switch, and connects to port labeled “Pa” on both sides.

But….. your photo shows lines with “eyelet terminals” “o shape ring” which can not be connected on your ignition switch since your car should have the large round connector (with 8 pins) on the ignition tumbler switch end.

So my previous answer was for WHITE/green line, and not for GREEN /white.

My guess is, as your harness is a REPRODUCTION, which is what we can find today, the didn’t have the right color combination and used GREEN WHITE for circuits described as WHITE GREEN on the wiring diagram. 

Therefore and because of the kind of terminals, I am more inclined to affirm that we are dealing with a SIDE MARKERS circuit.

Attached a wiring diagram for late 280SL.  It does not show wire colors, but you can see oon main light switch that a line comes out of port 56, and goes to an aux fuse box (38) and from there a line goes for each of the front side markers, and a third line goes back to 12 pin interconnector to rear harness.
