230 vs 250 fuel injection pump
« on: June 10, 2025, 22:57:14 »
I recently attempted to revive the 250SE engine. Yes, it is running now, yet I’ll not run it for long. In my initial inspection I noticed poor fuel delivery on cylinder 1 and somewhat less than satisfactory on cylinder 3. Pump low rpm setting was turned up quite a bit. I assume it was before the car was parked, long, long time ago. The fuel system was dry and some lines corroded when I got it.
Anyway , Here is the question I got;
Can I use the known good 230 pump temporarily in place of the 250 until I get that one sorted?
 Is the fuel volume difference large enough to cause issues at low load?
I thought about compensating with shims on the barometric compensator to increase the fuel volume slightly. Am I on the right path or totally out to lunch?

You should be fine. Check the plug reading after running, adjust shims (or full travel rack screw) as needed. Record the number of turns if you adjust the rack screw.
