With each issue of Pagoda World Magazine, mailed out in March and September of each year, we always get a few returned.
A disproportionate number of these are from the UK, usually for incorrect addresses.Even though you may have received mail for decades at what you suspect is your correct address, if it is listed differently in the Royal Mail PAF database, regulated and maintained in the UK by Ofcom, your magazine mailed from the USA may never make it to your local post office. It may be kicked back to us. Then,
at a cost of about half of your annual membership, we re-mail it to you. As you can guess this isn't a sustainable model.
Please go HERE and check your address in our system (the one you entered) against the Royal Mail database:
https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode. Then correct, if necessary, the address in our system
so it matches the Royal Mail database for your delivery point.
Here's a made-up example of the differences:
Member John Smith is the proprietor of a restaurant in Bristol. Here's where/how he normally has received mail, addressed like this:
John Smith
The Old Post Office, Fishponds Road
Bristol, BS16 3TT UK
The corrected address is:
John Smith
The Old Post Office
786 Fishponds Road
Fishponds
BRISTOL
BS16 3TT UK
We do NOT make up these standards. This is part of the Royal Mail system. With increasing automation, improperly addressed mail, particularly international, doesn't make it through.
Please ensure your address conforms to Royal Mail address standards per the link above to ensure we can get your magazine out on the first try.
For those in the Channel Islands, your mail is handled by Royal Mail when coming from international destinations.
So, instead of ending your address with post code and the name of your island (Isle of Man, Jersey, etc.) you really need to follow your address like this:
Name of Island
Channel Islands, UK
