WTS Hirschmann Power Antenna
« on: May 06, 2025, 17:46:21 »
I bought this from Chrome London, and it is this exact one (https://www.chromelondon.com/hirschmann-electric-chrome-wing-aerial---universal-1280-p.asp). I did remove it from the box, but otherwise it is unused. Switching it to a still-sealed in box manual antenna given to me by a friend. To be clear, I think these are best used in cars where the antenna is mounted in the rear, or else in later cars with more room in the front fender. It will fit, but it is very snug.

Asking $100

Why are you not using it?

"... or else in later cars with more room in the front fender."  What defines "later"?  I have a 1966, which is later than your 1964.

Also, you're post in the For Sale forum, so WTS is redundant.   ;)

I know that my original radio and antenna were installed by the owner at some later date, since the build sheet didn't specify any kind of radio in the car at factory delivery. I believe the original owner drilled an antenna hole in a place that makes it difficult to accommodate the power antenna. It fits, but just barely, and in a weird way. I prefer the way the manual one fits in there. I don't intend to use the antenna anyway, in fact, if the paint weren't so good on this car, I'd fill the hole and repaint since I hate the way antennas look. By later, I meant something like an R107. I've also seen on our forum a few cars with the power antenna specified as OE, and usually they're mounted in the rear. I can see why, since it seems like a much simpler install.
