Any downside to upsizing fuel tank?

In my terminal case of "and while I'm in there," I've decided it might be a good idea to replace the original 65L gas tank on my car with a new 82L one. Is there any downside to doing this on the 230? Any noticeable change in handling or complications I need to know? Seems like a simple enough job.

The only downside I can see is your fill-ups will be more costly.

I am reminded by a colleague's remark on rising fuel prices, where he stated "Rising fuel prices don't affect me because I always put in exactly $25 worth"

Is it not about re-arranging the aft of the car? Spare wheel bay goes away and spare wheel is relocated? Fuel pump may need to be re-arranged, I am not sure about this one...

I am sure Members here did it and will chime in.

I did this on my 230.  Since I have the horizontal spare (1966 production date) the only accommodation needed was to move the fuel pump and cover slightly to allow the larger tank to be mounted.  I  went with a new OEM tank from the Classic Center.  That was years ago and I have never regretted the change.

Good to know, that seems consistent with threads from years ago.
