300SL Roadster Elvis

Elvis Presley supposedly bought a 300SL Roadster while he was stationed in Germany in the Army. Would be cool to find out what happened to the car and where it is now!

So, Elvis bought a BMW507 in 1958 and a 300SL in 1959? Wonder whether either story is a fake. Hard to believe that even Elvis would buy two of the most iconic German sports cars in the late 1950s.

There appears to be a euro type license plate on the rear - long and narrow.
Plus a D shield above .
The photo itself looks authentic. Maybe it was Hal Wallace's car ?
Easy then to say it's Elvis's

What I think I see on the license plate is that is German, from Hamburg (code 'HH').

From the postures of the characters it appears that Hal is showing off his car to Elvis.

Cees, if you look closely, I think there is a hyphen in front of the HH and the number 1 follows the HH, which would indicate the HH are the second set of letters on the plate. Something like
F-HH 1047
