Since a lot of you have wide knowledge of many classic Mercedes models, I have a kind request for help: I am in need of manuals or drawings of carburetor Stromberg 175CD (as on the picture). These carbs were installed (mainly with automatic choke, but it is not an issue) in:

MERCEDES /8 W115 230.4 115.017 kW 81 / 08.1973 -12.1976
MERCEDES /8 W115 220 115.010 kW 77 / 01.1968 -07.1973
MERCEDES /8 W115 200 115.015 kW 63 / 01.1968 -01.1977
MERCEDES /8 W115 200 kW 70 / 01.1968 -01.1977
MERCEDES /8 W115 220 115.010 kW 66 / 01.1968 -07.1973

and engines

M115.938, M115.939, M115.954

I think also in M102.

All I have is exploded views from Mercedes parts lists. I have manuals for a different version of this carburetor that enabled me to tune the engine. But I do not have a manual for mine. I need it to establish how to seal the place marked with an arrow (I had a leak there when the float chamber valve got stuck with debris). The "thin chimney" on the picture, held by hand, would also be ok as it has the same choke solution as mine. My theory is that the marked place is the choke air inlet, but I am not sure, need to verify.

I need information on how mine is built to see how to seal the marked place.

Just to, perhaps, close the topic and make it complete.

I received help from Polish W123 facebook group. I also received reply as for content of one of the manuals being sold on ebay from the seller - the manual covers carbs similar to mine so I bought it. When it arrives I think I will be able to confirm what I established based on advise from W123 group.

My understanding of how the vent valve works was correct, I attached the drawing. During idle the valve needs to be pushed in by throttle lever, venting happens from the atmosphere. Under load valve is closed and venting is happening through intake. There is no sealing to prevent gas from spilling out through there - it will do that if the float valve fails.

I have it assembled and adjusted correctly. I installed additional drain tray to prevent gasoline flowing onto the exhaust.

Thank you!

I have this manual. I used it to tune the carburetor and it was successful - I have it working nice.

But the types described there are slightly different than mine and they have different vent valve arrangement so did not help in particular topic I had at hand.
