I am only seeing the whole recliner part with the long chrome tube these plug into and lever listed on the various sites with diagrams of seat parts. Does anyone know the part number or if they are available?
Thanks,
Rich

Oh..., they were.
Those are at least included (attached) to the new backrest release lever rod.

I think ... I believe to remember my (280) seats have them too.
I go and check this weekend ....

There is no separate parts number for that stopper - unfortunately ....

Thanks Achim,

Unfortunately one of my seats has them at both ends and the other seat has lost them at both ends 🙄
Thanks,

During  Pagodafest Chicago, Hans pointed these out and we did find them on a couple of seats and missing on others.   My 280 does have them.

The Porsche ones do look promising!
Will have to grab my tape measure - Pawel thought they were 10mm not 19mm 😁
Thanks,
Rich

Sadly the Porsche ones look perfect but are double the size. The Mercedes one is 10mm at the plug end (13mm on the knurled outside) The Porsche ones are 20mm it says for a snug fit in a 19mm hole.
Thanks,
Rich

…Or steal them off someone else’s at a car show  ;D (Just kidding)

I get the idea of 3D printing them but have no idea how you’d go about it.
Thanks,
Rich

Go to the local 3D printing shop, show them picture of the original and give dimensions.

We need to get one of these plugs to someone who can 3D scan it for 3D printing.  We'd probably have scores of orders.

Uggg... missing three out of four!

I guess there is an outside chance they fell into the abyss (under the seat). It is not easy to recover anything that gets under there... but they probably would have shown up when I redid the carpets.

Wishful thinking?

As with a lot of things on these cars, we were all blissfully unaware that we were missing these plugs, and now we're desperate to find the correct ones, i must have googled 1000's of these damn things over the last couple of days and none are quite right, why can't we just accept something similar, who's ever going to know?

Good point BobH.  Unless you are showing your car at Pebble Beach, no one will even think of looking to see if you have the correct plugs. Now with that said, our local library has a 3D printer. I will check to see if one can be printed there. Don’t know but will give it a try to cu see if they can duplicate one.

I am missing 3 of the 4.  The fact that so many have these plugs suggests they were an actual part, even though they are not shown in the parts manual.

Thanks all for your responses and sorry for seeming to have opened a can of worms! 😂

I think Pawel’s original suggestion of 3D printing makes sense, but I have been looking for local businesses to me in NYC and finding it not as simple as all that - several request that you provide the file for printing, which suggests a need for a middle step of putting the dimensions of the plug into some sort of CAD program - I have not found a service offering to ‘scan’ one of the plugs.

As Rodd said, it looks like there would be plenty of demand, and I do wonder what people with the 200k beautifully restored cars have found as a solution? Someone must have found a supply of these or indeed 3D printed them before…

Hopefully with so many now looking for them, a solution may be found!
Thanks,
Rich

I have one out of four remaining so have arranged to post the one remaining to a guy who has done some 3D printing in the past and get 4 printed. I never even noticed the bungs before but now I know they are missing I need to get get them, I guess its our passion with these cars
