Soft top seals
« on: March 01, 2024, 21:18:15 »
Hello, I ordered a new soft top and the supplier sent a pair of seals pictured in the attachment.

Would anybody help here?

I am wondering how to fit them...

In my old soft top it seems that the seals were glued under the top along the side edges -just like the attached picture shows.

Is this how to do it?

The problem is that in the frame there is a metal piece bent downwards, which protrudes just above the window. That metal is pressing the seal and creates a curved shape in the soft top's cloth...

Savakis,

You'll find a lot of information using the Search function.  After some self-education, you'll either have your answer or you'll have more detailed specific questions (regardless the topic of the day).

Yes to your question, you glue to the headliner of the top, and place the seals as close to the top stitching along the rain bead. This should clear the top frame. The propose of the two seals is to touch the top frame along the top of windows to seal out wind and rain.

You have to make sure that the elastic/fabric stripes work properly and raise the middle bow when folding the soft top. If they do not work (e.g. because they are old and lost their elasticity) the rubber seals will crack.

I just searched this sub-forum and got 3 pages of threads.  Something is amiss.

Thanks for your advice, that was really helpful.

You have to make sure to select "Entire Forum". And you do not need to thank each individual contribution  ;)
