Slightly Delaminated windscreen - free
« on: February 25, 2024, 11:12:36 »
Hi everyone
Odd I know, but might be of use to someone (suggest UK only to to delivery charges)

So, I replaced Bessie’s windscreen as delamination was arising in a couple of corners, and as the wood was off, I used this as an opportunity to change

If anyone might be interested, perhaps undertaking a resto and want a windscreen just to drive around with as interim measure?

Please do let me know
Katie

Hi Katie,

Where about's are you based in the UK?

I am working on a restoration and this maybe useful.

Also, curious where did you purchase your new windscreen from?  I need a complete set of glazing for my car.

Hi Steven
Unfortunately it’s been a while since I posted this. As such, I was fed up with the screen getting in the way, and therefore disposed of it a couple of weeks back 😔

never mind.

Can you advise where you bought your new one from?

I shall need to start looking for one at the end of the year (hopefully).

A few years ago I got one via my car insurance (old one delaminating) and they just ran it through National Windscreens who sourced and fitted it (sun strip and all). They recently did the same for a chipped screen on my 2000 G wagen (heated front screen). £75

That may not be an option today

Ok, so there is SL shop, but I believe these may well have scratches (NOS)

Just so happened I contacted a few companies that the website said they dealt with old car windscreens, thinking it might be useful to them as a mould. Surprisingly they said they already produced such items. So you may wish to try them but unfortunately I cannot vouch for them

Good luck! Let me know how you get on so others in the forum, in UK, will also know where to go

I probably have 3 or 4 used windscreens if anybody wants one in the UK.
