Driving home to NC from MA, bad traffic on I95 had WAZE diverting off of I95 and around the section of I95 through downtown Pawtucket and Providence yesterday morning. I was not much better off in stop and go traffic on North Main Street. Anyway, I passed this place called "German Motors" and spied a tobacco brown Pagoda in the front lot, along with a bunch of other interesting cars (old Volvos, a hot 2002, Porsches, etc.) At the time I was passing I couldn't figure out if these were in for service or for sale, but I see this one was sold:
https://www.germanmotorsinc.com/details/used-1969-mercedes-benz-280-class/48738866Based on the VIN, I think they got the year wrong. Mine is -7262 and is a January 1969 build. So this car with a -407 is very early 280SL which would put it at 1968.
I was in traffic, stopped, but it wasn't easy to get any better a shot without stopping...
