Dear friends

For those of you who want to keep their original wiring harness in place but are concerned about its integrity, I have produced a PATCH HARNESS which solves 90% of the problems typically found on ORIGINAL w113 wiring harness.

A. T30 always hot lines.  As mentioned on many previous thread’s, the charging system on pagodas running on the original wiring harness is always compromised due to the kind of cable insulation jacket used during those years.

B. T50 Starter signal.  Starter selenoid cable shows also problems with its insulation jacket, but due to excessive softening.

C. BOSCH AL69X alternator ready  Another need on classic pagodas is to upgrade the kind of alternator installed for a model available everywhere as AL69X which uses internal voltage regulation instead of an unreliable external unit.

All those three problems are addressed on this PATCH/UPGRADE HARNESS.

You will run this harness in parallel to the original one, cuting the lines that are no longer in use.

This harness has increased capacity:

1. Section alternator to starter in 8mm2 instead of 4 mm2
2. Section in long segment alternator to main light switch 5.3 mm2 instead of 4 mm2.

Harness priced at a very competitive level for just 385$

See photos below.

INSTALL GUIDELINES

==============

1. STARTER CONNECTIONS
Disconnect t30 and t50 cable ends from original harness and chop those ends.  Connect in place same cable ends provided from patch harness

2. ALTERNATOR CONNECTIONS
Disconnect T30 large cable from alternator, and plug terminal for external voltage regulator.  Put them aside. Install new BOSCH AL69X alternator.  Connect to large screw terminal cable end labeled T30 on your new patch harness.  On smaller screw connect the blue line labeled CHARGE LT.

3. PARKING NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH.
At firewall driver side, remove 4 pin connector from the parking/neutral safety and reverse switch.  Open connector housing and remove the two large cables on the right side which provide the starter selenoid signal.  They are generally GRAY or VIOLET depending on production date.  Replace those lines with the ones supplied with pins already soldered.

4. RUN HARNESS THROUGH firewall grommet

5. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
Below the steering wheel are two 12 pin female connectors.  One serves the steering switch and the other the central instrumentation  panel.  Open the later one connector and find a SOLID BLUE CABLE which feeds the charging light control.  It is on position no.3.  Remove it and replace with line supplied with pin already soldered.

6.MAIN LIGHT SWITCH
Remove main light switch from dashboard to gain access to the terminal screws on the back. Locate the large T30 cable end and chop the thick cable. There is also a thin cable on that same eyelet terminal, cut it and install a new smaller terminal on it.   Connect the large t30 cable in, and place on top of it the terminal with smaller diameter t30 line.

7. IGNITION SWITCH.
Remove ignition tumbler switch by unscrewing the 3 screws that hold it to the steering lock assembly.  Unscrew t50 cable and install in place the new one provided. Cut the black/pink/blue cable that was on that same terminal and install a new smaller eyelet terminal on it.  Both cables the T50 supplied (violet/white stripe) and the black/rose/blue should be on tumbler switch position labeled T50.

After completing this job your car will be much safer to drive.
