Ignition switch refurbishment
« on: November 02, 2023, 17:39:20 »
Hi all

As I undestood I'm a victim of this switch failure.
As I try to switch the engine, my gas pump shuts off due to the wear and / or the dirtyness of this switch.

I know how and where purchasing a new one, but was wondering if anybody had ever opened this switch to refurbish it ?
In other words: is it reperable ?

Hello, the consensus is to replace rather than repair, but if you decide to have a bash there are some descriptions on here, including a link to a PDF that WRe posted

I had a 69 280sl that I took apart the electrical switch and cleaned the contacts because it wouldn’t run.  It wasn’t too hard as I recall but that was 20 years ago.

Ran find after that.
