Front tunnel carpet piece
« on: May 19, 2023, 15:55:47 »
Hello guys, I am missing a couple of pieces of carpet for my car. I have a 1969 Manual trans car that is missing the front tunnel carpet piece and the center console box carpet piece. My carpet is dark blue and otherwise original. I've contacted a couple of resellers but they want to charge me for the complete kit, which I hate to buy unnecessarily. Are pieces available? If so, please let me know what direction I need to go. THX Tim

Tim,
even though I am your side, I could see that some of the carpet suppliers would hesitate to send you a piece of new carpet to match your 50-60 year old carpet. The color is likely different and chances that it may be returned are quiet high.

I was in the same bind about 4 years ago, needing only a few small carpet pieces; also dark blue. I contacted many places that sell carpet sets. The only place that would sell me individual pieces at the time was German Auto Tops in North Hollywood, CA. I think they've since been bought out, so their policies may have changed. Here's the contact info I have on the receipt:

Following up on Dirk's comment, indeed, the match was not perfect. But it was close enough to be acceptable to me; not noticeable at a glance. Apart from the cost, I did not want to go to the trouble of replacing the entire carpet set.

Good luck

Seek out Cabrio.de. They may sell some carpet.  I sent them a sample of mine and they matched it up for me both in weave and colour.

It may be a good time to get the complete kit. I bought mine for German Auto Tops and it was reasonable price. approx 700 USD. It made a big difference in air quality in the cabin.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll seek the two pieces I need and if all else fails, I'll pick up a complete kit and redo the whole interior.
