Cleaning MB-Tex tips
« on: May 09, 2023, 16:12:52 »
A simple one...
For cleaning MB-Tex, is all that is required is any vinyl cleaner?
Not just for seats, but for doors (have a bit of staining...not sure what from, perhaps water over the years), rearview mirror, etc. I've seen a bit here on caring for leather, but haven't found (apologies if looking past) if anything special required for MB-Tex on cleaning and care over the years.

Thanks forum

I find Mr Clean magic eraser works really well on vinyl.

I’ve used 303 vinyl cleaner and then followed up with their protectant with excellent results on MB Tex. It leaves it very clean (especially if you use a detailing brush) and somewhat more pliable.  The protectant leaves it with a matte finish.  It’s smells clean too.

Thanks @Jordan

@lreppond - do you use the '303 clear vinyl protective cleaner' or the '303 multi-surface cleaner'?
Curious if one is preferred just for MB-Tex v other surfaces.  Thanks again.

I use the “303 multi surface cleaner” and then follow up with their protectant.  I’ve used this regiment not only on MBTex but guitar cases, typewriter cases, etc with absolutely excellent results.  It also worked quite well on the sun visors on my w113 which have a textured surface that collects grime.  I could be wrong but I think the protectant has a UV blocker.
