Top windscreen chrome removal
« on: May 08, 2023, 13:40:21 »
Hi hoping someone can give me a clue as to whether removing the top windscreen chrome means removing all the screen trim or if it can be done fairly easily as in my photo the chrome is coming off in one corner. Any help or advice would really be appreciated.

Gary,
Aside from everything you mentioned, the front windshield should be out.

Thanks for the reply I have read on the forum that the side chromes need the screen out to be removed but I was hoping that the top rail might come off without taking the screen out thanks again.

Hi Gary,

This is what it looks like underneath. First photo from the front with the windscreen removed and 2nd photo from inside the car.

Thank you for the pictures it’s so annoying because being a RHD car it’s the first thing I see every time I get in the car but the rest of the screen and frame are good and the screen is original so I would hate to brake it taking it out.
Thanks again for the pictures.

Very annoying!!! No worries Gary let me know if you need more pics....from your pic it's a bit hard to tell but if it's the inside screw that's let go you might be able to replace that without removing the windscreen but if your chrome is bent you'll have to remove the windscreen.

Hi it’s not the screw it’s the chrome pealing of on the corner I thought it might just be a case of taking off the sun visors and the interior mirror and the other items fastened to it and getting it re-chromed.
I should know better nothing is ever easy on the old girl but wouldn’t have it any other way.
Regards and thanks for you time
