Hood Safety Catch help needed
« on: March 22, 2023, 14:24:00 »
I seem to be missing the bracket or body plate where the hood safety catch latches into. I've searched the forums and vendor websites but can't find it. Can someone tell me what to search for or send me a link to where I may purchase it? Thanks in advance!

Hello Brandon, there should be a bracket where the relays bolt to, this would have the body/paint number plate fixed to it and the windscreen washer pump, there's a square hole that the safety catch hooks into.  I'm not sure from the angle of your picture if you're missing this bracket, or what your relays are fixed to?  There are pictures on this link.  Even early cars must have had this bracket, for the catch to hook into.  Let us know what you find out

Thank you for the reply - yes, I am missing the bracket that the relays affix to. Currently they are held in place by a few screws to the fender. Through the link you provided I was able to figure out what it's called and found one here:

I wonder how I could get the body and paint number plate fabricated to add on top the the bracket?

Thanks again!

I finally got the relay holder in today. Could someone tell me how this is installed? Is it welded or screwed in? Maybe someone could send a picture of theirs?

I am also missing the metal piece that is welded to the car that the plastic bracket screws into. Does anyone know where I might find this metal piece?

Thanks in advance - Brandon
