It's a journey. I am still on the trail and climbing the long hill. Looking for a good honest reliable W113. I know what these cost in good condition. Not willing to pay that price for a running project.

Not looking for a project or a dramatically modified car. Thanks.

Are you adding to your 1970 in your signature or did you sell that?

Hey Mike.

I moved that (my first) w113 on down the road. I recently acquired a second 1970 280SL that is in MUCH better condition, with the help[ of Gernold Nisius.

Sorry for delayed response.
Regards,
Tom

I’m interested in the 1971.  I’m starting my journey. Never owned one. Wife prefers it to anything else I suggest.

Jengel199,

Congratulations on finding our Group before buying a Pagoda!  So few seem to do that, so you're already ahead of the game, beating the odds, and have the inside track.

How much experience do you have with classic car ownership, or specifically classic Mercedes Benz ownership?

Looking for a good driver can be exciting but there are pitfalls. A good driver is just that, engine in good shape, but rest of vehicle needs work. Set your mind on what shape you want the vehicle to be in. Are you only concerned with the reliability, or the price?  Remember lower the price lower the reliability. Check the history, recent service records, ownerships, etc.  and above all, ask questions, have a pre-sale inspection by reputable, knowledgeable person.
