offer Mechatronik suspension kit for Mercedes W113 Pagode
« on: January 30, 2023, 08:22:55 »
I sell for a Mercedes Pagode W113, 230 SL, 250 SL or 280 SL:
Mechatronik suspension kit, consisting of the original springs and two or four matching in 4 stages adjustable KONI shock absorbers. The springs as well as the shock absorbers are as good as new and were replaced 6 years ago after 3,800 km of driving.
A TÜV certificate of the company Mechatronik is attached.

The conversion of the chassis at Mechatronik with material costs at present approx. 3,700 € incl. VAT.

For some years now, the parts are no longer supplied separately but only in connection with installation.
The picture shows two of the four adjustable shock absorbers type Koni 80-1415 for front axle and 80-1416 for rear axle.

By installing the suspension the Pagoda is lowered about 2 cm and the annoying dipping of the front axle as well as the bobbing disappears. The handling is improved by classes, which is also confirmed in many articles on the Internet again and again by Pagoda drivers. It is not a racing chassis,
but just a little tighter tuned, without it rumbling.

If you are interested, please contact me via Email with your offer for the kit eather for 2 (front) or for 4 KONI.

price proposal for the complete kit with 2 Koni for Front axle : 1,100 $ plus shipping
4 Koni  Front and Rear: 1,300 $ plus shipping

Shipping worldwide possible

Curious, are these linear or progressive?

If you scroll down in this thread to a post made by Tom, he says they are progressive. Seems he is still active on this forum, too, not so common for some of the closer to two-decades-old threads... any way to page him?

I'd like to take my car to the Panamericana this year and evaluating spring choices.

Seems like the urethane bushings would be a great match with the above kit. They mention that in the post from 2005.

Did Mechatronik make/does this kit come with a fifth spring over the differential?

No.
No fifth spring. Just the stock spring over the differential.
That's how it is recommended by them
.... and runs great.  ;)

Sorry to be so late in responding but I did get a PM about this at the time the purchase was being considered but wanted to share my experience with everyone regarding the Mechatronik suspension.

First, the suspension on the actual Mechatronik car that I owned that had a full Mechatronik conversion was amazing.  The car handled like a dream and the overall stance (height) was close to original, maybe even *higher* than stock.  The Mechatronik car also had 15-inch steel rims, which was a game changer in terms of ride and handling.    Remember that Mechatronik also used a more modern engine and 5 speed automatic transmission.  Thus, the drivetrain was lighter, and offered increased horse power, so the steel rims did not adversely impact performance.

I adjusted my relatively stock car to try and match the Mechatronik suspension, using the Mechatronik kit (shocks, progressive springs, etc.).  The 2005 version of the suspension came with shocks that were unique to Mechatronik-they were stainless steel and were not labeled as Koni but were adjustable.  And I went to 15-inch rims.  The Mechatronik set up was a bit tight for me, and overall I think the 15-inch rims made the biggest overall difference in how the suspension felt and performed.  In the end, I went back to stock springs and Koni shocks, rubber bushings and a 22 inch sway bar (vs 20 on 280sl) and kept the 15-inch rims.  I like the stance and way the car looks with 15-inch rims.  And it handles great.

Hope this helps.
