Attaching a recent article about LED light replacement legality that appeared in a New York Auto column.  No idea of its validity but posting simply for information

Someone here recently posted a pic of the box their US style LED headlights came in and it said right on the box "off road use only".

We always went to halogen conversion headlights which were far and away superior to sealed beams.

Halogen sealed beams in 7” are very common these days…Sylvania Xtravision H5001 are halogen sealed beams and run around USD $24 each. Like at any auto parts store.

What are US style Led's ?

Back when our Pagodas were made, there were only TWO legal headlight styles made for US specifications. Every car in the USA had one or the other. A single 7” hi-lo sealed beam, and two 5” (one hi, one lo) sealed beams.

Sealed beams refer to a sealed and integrated lens, reflector and bulb, all in one. If it burned out, you replaced it.

Some started making conversions which fit into the same place as the sealed beams…but took a replaceable lamp. These lamps were generally brighter H4 halogen.

Now those halogens can be found in a sealed beam. Also you can now get LED lamps to fit in the conversions.
