For this website? No, there is no number.  If you look at your account you will see status and expiration date.  Why are you looking for a membership number?

I know mine is 007 ;-)

To clarify, when we got started way back in 2002 I asked our membership administrator at the time, Richard Madison, if I could have # 007 and he did give that to me. I believe Joe Alexander got 0017. Probably don't exist anymore, these membership numbers?

Actually, they do. They just don't mean much. If you click on Profile (or any member's name to the left of their post) to see your membership details, and then put your mouse on the URL you will see a number at the end of the string, after 'u='.

https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=7

That is your membership number. Cees does indeed have the number 7 (leading zeroes are dropped). Mazmona is 4329.
Membership numbers are assigned sequentially in order of joining. However, lapsed memberships and unused memberships are deleted after a while as we comply with data protection regulations. That means that the sequence is no longer contiguous.

Hmmm...

Maybe we CAN make them mean something! With tongue firmly planted in cheek, remember that the question was first posed here recently, by someone from the fair Isles. This is the place where auctions for number plates can go into the THOUSANDS or TENS OF THOUSANDS of pounds sterling.

Maybe there's a way to monetize this...

Peter,
Thanks for the guidance!  After letting my membership expire several times over the years, I wondered if my number had changed.  I guess with each renewal, I reinstated myself in time.  Still #8.

Mike,
"Tounge in cheek" disclaimers won't stop us from exploring the idea!  I don't know who #113 is, but that's the only number I can think of that anyone would pay for.  Maybe #1, if that founding member would sell.  Maybe people with low VINs might want a membership number to match? Would it be a pure member to member transaction, or would the Group take a cut?

I tried to load the profile for user #113, and it doesn't exist, so I guess it's up for grabs.   ;)

I was curious about my own number, and it seems that I got Joe's number; I'm number 17.

#1 is the admin account of this forum. Not a founding member but needed to set-up and administer the forum itself.
Then Richard Madison got added to help test... and the rest were converted in sequence from the previous incarnation of the forum.
And no, I'm not gonna create a trading for membership number facility. That membership number gets used internally in the database in millions of places...

Threads like this highlight the incredible effort put into creating this resource for current and future owners - it really is impressive that many of the founding members are still active today, after 20 years, and so generous with their time.

Thanks to all involved in ensuring its continued operation, I know I'd have been completely lost without it!
